Between the resulting lay-offs, increased workloads, organizational restructuring and financial crackdowns, ‘maintaining’ a commercially sustainable, or profitable business has become increasingly difficult.
Did you ever think you would have to lead an organization thorough booming deficits and increasing spending cuts? In order to survive these rough waters, we need to better understand this new environment, the role of ethics, and what it takes to survive in this new economy.
Why should you attend?

In the early morning of Feb 27, 2010 the country of Chile was awakened by an earthquake of 8.8 magnitude which lasted over 90 seconds. The epicentre was located 63 kilometres southeast of Cauquenes, in the region of Maule (406 kilometres south from Santiago). As a result, a tsunami was produced which affected a coastal strip of more than 500 kilometres, taking with it entire cities and leaving hundreds of people missing, particularly in the regions of Maule and Bio Bio. Since that morning, there have been more than 128 aftershocks, some recorded as high as 6.9 magnitude, causing extensive damage throughout Chile. As of date, there are over 800 confirmed deaths. Approximately 1.5 million people have been affected, losing their homes and livelihood. Over 500,000 homes have been lost so far.

Calibre Environmental Ltd. was incorporated in the fall of 2003 as a sister company to Calibre Coatings Ltd., a commercial and residential painting company who has been in business since 1986. Subsequently Calibre Environmental purchased the assets of a small paint recycling company and initially recycled industrial and commercial paints in small amounts, creating white, beige and grey ecocoat, which was tested and marketed as an industrial primer. In September 2004, Calibre obtained the contract to process City of Calgary post-consumer paint and began searching for a better way to recycle latex paints. In November 2004, Calibre Environmental established a relationship with an American organization that had been recycling latex paint since 1992. Calibre Environmental was able to adopt their methods and practices, and in the spring of 2005 launched to the retail market with 14 consistent colours of premium quality, 100% recycled latex paint.
In June of 2006, Calibre Environmental was a proud recipient of an Alberta Emerald Award for environmental excellence. These awards celebrate and showcase the outstanding achievements of Albertans committed to protecting, preserving, enhancing and sustaining our environment. Since then, the company continues to grow and is an excellent local example of running a profitable business in a sustainable way! Join us on March 3rd to hear from Calibre Environmental and others on some practical ideas and solutions for your own organizations!
