Business Day in Calgary

The tradition of the Business Day Conference first started in 1970. For 39 years, we have built solid relationships between students, members of the Calgary business community and the Haskayne School of Business. The Business Day Conference is open to students in all business programs in the City of Calgary, making it the only business conference of its kind. Our goal is to expose students to issues in commerce by creating links between classroom learning and the business environment.

We are committed to making the Business Day Conference successful and enjoyable for the students, sponsors, and corporate delegates alike. This year all proceeds from the Business Day Conference Silent Auction will go to the United Way of Calgary and Area.

The theme of the conference is the key to effectively creating a link between the classroom and business environment. The first step in planning this year’s Business Day Conference was choosing a relevant theme that was both interesting and applicable to students and Calgary’s Corporate Community. Last year’s conference focused on the recession and its effects on the business community, highlighting economic opportunities amidst global uncertainty. This year’s theme, “The Evolution of Business” aims to celebrate the rich history of the Business Day Conference, and also to offer all participants the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussion surrounding the way the business world has changed, and what we can do to best prepare ourselves for the future.

We will hear from the leaders of today’s business community about various topics concerning the way the business world has changed and is continuing to evolve including:

  • Marketing and the Growth of Social Media
  • Building Sustainable Communities
  • Technology as a Driver of Change
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation
